Community
We know that our school is at the heart of the local community and we support it and engage with it in many different ways.
We have a strong connection with the Over 60s Club who we invite into school for our Harvest celebration each year and who we sing with during their special Christmas lunch every December. We have even had a table tennis tournament with them to celebrate the new tables that were installed in the 'Rec'.
We contribute to the village 'Gazette' every month, have links with St Peter and St Paul Church to support our learning in RE and some pupils participate in the annual tree planting event.
Each year, Shoreham pupils read their poetry in the church on Remembrance Sunday and lay a wreath on behalf of the school at the village War Memorial.
We have worked with the Parish Council to create murals for the shelter on the 'Rec' and we work with them to support village events - such as creating our own model of Queen Elizabeth II for the village trail during the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations and providing banners for the village celebrations.
We use our wonderful location to support our learning in almost every subject - being inspired by the work of local artist Samuel Palmer, using the Darenth Valley in our geography fieldwork or visiting Lullingstone Roman Villa to support History learning - it is truly a rich place to come to school each day!
We also have strong links with a community in the Mpwapwa region of Tanzania. Our village made a partnership with a village called Chunyu, and we share messages and learning with the schools there. We sang a Christmas song that they taught us and have also raised money to support their local football team.
