Curriculum
We use the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum as the starting points of our curriculum. The curriculum at Shoreham Village School is taught in two cycles: A and B which are a mix of two year groups curricula.
As our pupils from Years 1 to 6 are taught in mixed year groups classes, we focus on teaching the skills relevant to their ability whilst delivering the knowledge content that is appropriate for their age group. This means that, for example, across Year 3 and Year 4 the pupils will have learned the Cycle A and Cycle B curriculum and by the time they leave Year 4 they will have been taught the full Year 3 and Year 4 curriculum.
Our curriculum is designed to build pupils skills and knowledge across the sequence of lessons they learn, across the year and across the school. They will revisit skills and knowledge learned previously so that they can further embed their learning and add to it.
We share curriculum newsletters with families at the start of each term so that everyone is informed about what pupils will be learning and when. These are available in each class section below. Please do ask your child's class teacher if you would like further information.
We work closely with our SENCo, teaching and teaching support staff to ensure our curriculum is accessible to all pupils, making adaptations as appropriate so that all pupils can have the same outcomes. Our curriculum complies with our duties in the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014.
If you have any questions regarding the curriculum we teach please contact the school directly.
